Foot Detox-Does it Work?

Some of you have heard of Ionic Foot Baths before. It is used by many natural clinics as an inexpensive and safe detoxification for the whole body. It entails you putting your feet in a bucket of salt water with two electrodes placed in. Over time you will notice a thick sludge rising to the surface.

So there are a couple of questions to ask here.

Number 1: Does it work?

Number 2: What is the sludge?

Number 3: Is it safe?

So first off, does it work? The research done on Ionic Foot Baths would indicate that it does not work. After analyzing the water along with blood labs, after a foot detox, no heavy metals or toxins could be found that supposedly exited the person’s pores. I have spoken to a retired AK doctor, however, who would recommend these foot baths quite often. He noticed that when he put patients undergoing Chemo on the foot bath regiment, they would not loose weight or hair. As soon as they went off the foot bath’s they would lose both. So clinically it seems to work. I have also put patients on foot baths and they say they have felt more healthy rested after a session.

Secondly, what is sludge? The sludge will appear whether you put your feet in the salt water or not. It is not toxins exiting the large pores of your feet into the water. The sludge is actually rust those forms from the two silver electrodes placed in the water. Electrons are released that enter your body, bind to heavy metals, and assist with detoxification.

Thirdly, is it safe? The only people I would not recommend using the Ionic Foot Baths are women who are pregnant, patients with kidney disorders, patients on blood thinners, and those who might be allergic to any of the ingredients in the foot bath.

So in conclusion, despite negative reviews from researchers I have found (as well as other doctors) that clinically it works. Not only so but it might make an excellent gift for that special someone this Christmas. You can get good ones on Amazon for about $100. In terms of frequency I would start with 3x 30 minute sessions a week. I personally do it every morning for about an hour. I had some terrible back pain a few weeks ago that just would not go away no matter what I did. After a few sessions of foot baths and some acupuncture, the back pain disappeared. I believe it was from a toxic load built up on my own part.
